Infield Play|2minThe 6F’s of Fielding system originated with Perry Hill and has been the foundation to his infield instruction for over 4 decades, and 24 years coaching in MLB. Whevever possible, with quick FEET, try to field the ball in the "middle of your body". The infielder must stay low and remain under control. After FIELDING the ball, FUNNEL to to the chest (as soon as the hands get here they separate - thumbs down) and at the same time begin right to left, left to target FOOTWORK (opposite for LH). With short arm action, the infielder now FIRES his throw toward the target. After the release of the ball, he should FOLLOW his throw with one or two steps. If it is impossible to field in the middle of the body, get the ball to the middle as quick as possible while the body "catches up", then begin the proper footwork.
